On November 8th 2013 200 people took part in the Manchester Sleepout and spent the night sleeping rough outside Manchester Cathedral.
During the evening they heard moving stories from people who had personal experiance of rough sleeping and were sung a lullaby by our Streetwise Opera group. They then bedded down outside the cathedral in torential rain and hail stones and really experianced what it's like to be cold and wet. Over £40,000 has already been raised. Thanks very much for everyone who took part and to everyone who sponsored people. We will be repeating the event next year.

I took part for the first time this year and because of the heavy rain and needing to stay inside the sleeping bag, I didn't manage to speak to other fund raisers. This gave me some small insight into the experience that homeless people face each and every night. I have been most moved by my experience and still feel uncomfortable with the sound of rain. I am thankful to the Booth Centre for organising the event, as I would never have been able to raise as much as I did and wouldn't have had that experience which will stay with me for the rest of my life.
