Inclusive volunteering programme

We serve a healthy and delicious breakfast and lunch from our fantastic, fully equipped catering kitchen. Not only does this have a direct benefit for the people who visit the Centre, in providing a free, nutritious meal - it also provides an opportunity for people to volunteer in the kitchen, enabling them to gain practical work-based skills and to gain a food safety qualification. From this we work alongside people to move on to further training, voluntary work or employment in the catering industry. Through our inclusive volunteering programme people can gain experience in different areas of the Centre whilst receiving one-to-one mentoring and advice to achieve their personal goals.

Our kitchen has consistently been awarded a 5* food hygiene rating, which is a tremendous achievement and a real testament to the hard work of the staff and volunteers who provide this invaluable service.

Volunteering Inclusion Partnership (VIP) Project

Since our inception, coproduction has represented a keystone of the Booth Centre’s mission. We feel passionately about supporting people affected by homelessness to take a leading role in the evaluation, planning and delivery of the services that are available to them. Through programmes such as our Volunteering Inclusion Partnership we aim to champion this approach not just in our own organisation but in organisations across the board.

Our VIP Project provided grant funding to our four partner organisations: Cornerstone (Caritas), The Edge Theatre, Greater Together Manchester and Oasis Community Centre. Through the project, we enabled our partners to develop coproduction within their services and enhance opportunities for people affected by homelessness.

We wanted to recognise our brilliant partners and their work towards creating a more inclusive, welcoming and accessible volunteering experience that people affected by homelessness can get involved with. You can read more about the impact of the project below:
