How long have you volunteered with the Booth Centre?
Erm, 4 months, give or take. I can't remember when I started, I've slept since then.
What do you normally do when you volunteer?
Reception, that is let people in, find out what they're at the Booth Centre for, answer the phone, respond to enquiries, signpost, provide basic assistance/advice.
What's your favourite thing about volunteering at the Booth Centre?
The people and face to face contact. And the brews. Definitely the brews.
Have any of your perceptions around homelessness changed since volunteering at the Booth Centre?
I've worked in housing/homelessness before, so not in that regard. The vibe at the Booth Centre, however, is very different. Much more friendly and laid back.
Any hobbies or interests that you'd like to share?
I'm getting into gardening, which I absolutely, not in a million years, ever thought I would. Must be a getting old thing.
Do you have any advice or encouragement for anyone thinking of volunteering at the Booth Centre?
When you first start it might seem a little bewildering but relax, give it time, and you'll find yourself enjoying the people and the place.
