Picture of skills activity in the Booth Centre
How long have you volunteered with the Booth Centre?
I have been a volunteer at The Booth Centre for 10 years.

What do you normally do when you volunteer?
I primarily provide benefit support but also occasionally address tax and debt issues.

What's your favourite thing about volunteering at the Booth Centre?
For me it is that I feel that I am still able to make a difference to people, make some contribution to improving the lives of those who primarily for no fault of their own are at the bottom of the heap.

Have any of your perceptions around homelessness changed since volunteering at the Booth Centre?
Very quickly I gained a clear picture that homelessness is something that potentially can affect anyone. At the same time though it also reinforced my perception that for such a rich country we desperately fail the most vulnerable.

Any hobbies or interests that you'd like to share?
I am also a school governor and member of a MAT (multi-academy trust) board. I love rugby, fishing and gardening.

Do you have any advice or encouragement for anyone thinking of volunteering at the Booth Centre?
Get involved, find a niche.
