A local health food store has teamed up with the Booth Centre to bring healthier food to homeless people in Manchester. On the Eighth Day and the Booth Centre plan to distribute fresh fruit and other healthy foods to help improve the wellbeing of people that live on the streets. During June, more than 1,000 pieces of fruit and other health products will be distributed to Manchester's inner-city homeless. This has been funded by a prize won by On the 8th Day at the Natural Products Show in London last month. On The 8th Day is the vegetarian health food co-operative store based on Oxford Road, which recently celebrated 40 years of helping the people of Manchester to better health. Co-op member Ursula Gothard said: "We are pleased to offer assistance to such a worthwhile local charity. We are dedicated to helping the people of Manchester to better health whether they live in a penthouse or on a park bench." Amanda Croome, manager of the Booth Centre, declared her support to the initiative. "We believe that by improving nutrition, we can help homeless people on their way to better health and a brighter future."
