The Manchester Sleepout 2020
Join us from home on Friday 6th November to raise vital funds and awareness to support people who are homeless in Manchester.
Every year we meet at Manchester Cathedral to celebrate the talents of people who visit the Booth Centre, to share the reality of homelessness in Manchester and to offer a glimpse into rough sleeping. We can’t meet at the Cathedral this year so we are asking you to join us from home – this can be by sleeping outside in your private space or sleeping inside in a shared room, perhaps on the sofa.
You can't experience the danger or isolation of being homeless in just one night, or suffer from the long term impact on physical and mental health but you can challenge yourself to be uncomfortable, maybe cold and damp whilst raising funds for the Booth Centre.
We know The Manchester Sleepout is about much more than sleeping out and we will be recreating those moving and memorable moments virtually. Just like in previous years the Booth Centre team will be there to answer questions and share insights, we’ll have videos of our community and there will be opportunity for you to engage and discuss how we are working to end homelessness in all its forms.
Our commitment to supporting people into permanent homes has never been needed more than it is now. During lockdown lots more people were able to access single room accommodation, receive 3 healthy meals a day and regular wellbeing check-ins. Now, these people need homes. We know that getting the keys to your own front door isn't the end of the story; our holistic approach supports people to not just start a tenancy but to maintain it so that the cycle of homelessness can end.
Join us in our mission to end homelessness in all its forms.
