I'm Chris. I work at the Booth Centre. I started as a volunteer nearly 8 years ago when I gave up full time work. Now I work in the Drop-In and also help people to find things to do to occupy their time. This could be voluntary work, training, education or even work towards employment. First we look for appropriate placements, go and look at them, attend interviews etc. Sometimes I go on the placement with people or just take them there. Voluntary work: The hardest thing is deciding what you want to do and then how to access it. I use contacts and other information to find the right place, set up nterviews and then even join in. At presentwe have people involved in work with other homeless charities, an art therapy centre and a centre offering holistic support to those with mental health difficulties. In the past we've been involved in conservation work and a wooden boat society.
