We work in partnership with Streetwise Opera and Opera North to run weekly opera workshops at the Centre.  Streetwise Opera is an award winning organisation that have pioneered using opera as a tool for helping homeless people to move forward in their lives.  This project is funded for three years by the Arts Council.

The Group have produced a CD and do regular performances in public venues, including Manchester Museum, Manchester Cathedral and St. Anne's Church.  In December 2010 they will be performing a newly commissioned piece of work called Fables, which they have helped to create, at the Spitalfields Festival in London. 

The group regularly go to see performances of Opera North at the Lowry and their singers attend our workshops before the performances to help the group get the most out of the operas they see.  There is also a work placement programme, to give people the opportunity to experience work in arts-based organisations.  These have included crewing at the Lowry, working at the Whitworth Art Gallery, Manchester Museum, at the Manchester Jazz Festival and making costuems for the Manchester Day Parade.
