We are currently looking for volunteers who can can commit regular time during the day, Monday to Friday. The time commitment is at least two mornings or afternoons per week (we are not open evenings or weekends) for at least 6 months. All new volunteers need to attend an induction and ongoing training sessions.
If you would like us to send you an application form, if you would like to arrange to have a look around, or would just like to have a chat about volunteering please give the centre a ring on 0161 835 2499 and ask for Harriet, our volunteer co-ordinator. Alternatively you can email Harriet at harriet@boothcentre.org.uk
We are also particularly interested in finding some volunteers who can speak Polish, Russian, Hungarian, Czech or Lithuanian. Please contact us as we really need your help in supporting people from these countries who are homeless. Emily runs our Eastern European project, so please email her at emily@boothcentre.org.uk or give the centre a ring and ask to speak to Emily.
We are also interested to hear from people who would like to help us with fundraising, for example, helping to organise appeals or events. If you would be interested in this please email amanda@boothcentre.org.uk or call the centre and ask to speak to Amanda.
Before you start volunteering for the centre you will need to complete a brief application form and provide details of two people that can give you a reference. We will also need to apply for a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check because we work with vulnerable adults. Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar you from becoming a volunteer, so please don't let this put you off.
Don't worry if you've not volunteered for anything like this before – we provide induction, training and support to help you every step of the way. We also provide travel expenses.
