We can let organisations give their people a really positive, hands-on experience of helping their local community.
Could your team run the centre for the day? You would need 5 to 10 people who are willing to get stuck in preparing and serving food, helping people access the internet, talking to people and making them feel welcome in our morning Cafe Advice session. After lunch with our volunteers you would take part in an activity alongside homeless people which could be gardening, a game of crown green bowls or opera singing. It costs £500 to run the Centre for the day – so part of the challenge is to raise this amount of money too. We are able to organise these days on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The day runs from 8am to 4pm at the Booth Centre in Manchester Cathedral. For more information please contact Amanda at amanda@boothcentre.org.uk
Alternatively we can work with companies to design individual projects which give your employees the opportunity to use their skills to help homeless people. You can see some of the examples of successful projects that we have done recently here.
If you are interested in organising a collection for us in your workplace you can download a poster which has all the details about what we need and space for you to add information about the collection point. Every donation we recieve will be directly helping someone who is homeless in Manchester.
