Allotment Gardening
The Centre took on it's first allotment in 2002. At the 2003 August show our allotment was awarded a Highly Commended Certificate. This recognised the huge effort that the team had put into the project in just 12 months. Since then we have won prizes for our cabbages, onions and pumpkins. We have also built some raised beds so older homeless people and those with limited mobility can also enjoy gardening. Our gardeners are learning how to grow their own food and at the same time gain qualifcations in gardening. All the food grown in the garden is used in the Centre as part of our healthy eating programme. Our allotment project is currently being support by the Local Food Programme.
Our gardeners also helped to create a show garden at the Tatton Park RHS Show in 2009 and were awarded a bronze medal.
