Advice
Advice is available throughout all the Cafe Advice and activity sessions at the centre.
We can help people to find temporary accommodation, sort out their benefits, register with doctors and refer them to agencies which can provide specialist help with drug, alcohol and mental health problems and resettlement support.
We provide ongoing support to help people to maintain their accommodation and make it into a real home. We can help with finding furniture, paying bills, budgeting and claiming benefits. We also encourage people to reestablish and maintain contact with social workers, probation officers, resettlement workers and their families. This all helps people to keep their accommodation and prevents them from becoming homeless again.
Other agencies also regularly attend our Cafe Advice sessions to provide specialist advice. These include BASH, the Manchester Housing outreach workers, Link Workers from the Urban Village Medical practice, the Homeless Mental Health Team, Counted In and an outreach worker from Turning Point . This ensures that people can meet all the specialist workers they will initially need to help them with their housing, health, drug and alcohol problems in the relaxed setting of the Centre.
We also provide support and advice to help people take up education, training, voluntary work and employment.
Outcome monitoring helps us to measure the results of our work. So for example in 2009/10 we assisted:

- 154 people to get replacement identification in order to access hostels and start benefit claims.
- 96 people to find accommodation
- 47 people to register with a GP
- 19 people to access alcohol treatment services and detox
